DESCRIPTION:The Amana Colonies are thrilled to announce “Celebrate! 170 Years of the Amana Colonies\,” an all-community event on Wednesday\, September 3\, 2025\, commemorating our rich heritage and vibrant future. The celebration will feature a dynamic performance by the GRAMMY-nominated Alex Meixner Band\, bringing a unique blend of exhilarating musical styles to this historic community.  Join us from near and far to celebrate with friends both old and new! \n  \nDoors open at 5:00 PM at the Festhalle Barn (4707 220th Trail\, Amana)\, with Cedar Rapid’s famous County Line BBQ serving dinner from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. A cash bar will be available. The highlight of the evening will be the performance by the Alex Meixner Band from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  We will have kids’ activities from 5PM to 7PM. \n  \nFind Tickets Here! \nTicket Information: \n\nCommunity Ticket BBQ Dinner & Performance: $40 per person (ages 14 and up); $20 for kids under 14. Meixner’s virtuosic yet delightfully quirky style has led to collaborations with diverse artists\, including Jack Black in the film “The Polka King\,” and renowned avant-garde accordionist/composer Guy Klucevsek. His recording “Polka FreakOut” with Brave Combo’s Bubba Hernandez earned him a GRAMMY nomination. Alex Meixner Band shows expertly blend traditional Central European party music with contemporary influences\, promising an engaging and joyful experience for all ages. \nThe Amana Colonies are a group of seven villages that were founded by German Pietists in 1855. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an open Craft Night at the Homestead Folk Art Museum on Monday\, September 15th from 5:30pm-7:30pm. This event is FREE and no experience is necessary! Bring your own craft to work on or try out something new with supplies we have on hand at the Folk Art Museum. Relax and visit with other artsy folks while you work! Crafting is a fun\, relaxing hobby that improves fine motor skills and relieves stress. Keep heritage traditions alive with us!\nDonations of non-perishable food items\, paper toiletries\, etc. in support of the Amana Food Bank will be accepted during the event.

DESCRIPTION:Join us on Friday\, September 19th\, 2025 at 5pm for an authentic dinner in the Communal Kitchen Museum. Check in begins at 5pm\, with the meal served at 5:30pm. During the meal\, a tour guide will talk about the Communal Kitchen and give historical context\, and a tour of the attached home museum is offered after the meal is over for any guests who wish to stay! Reservations are required and space is limited. Tickets are $35 per person. \n  \nMenu: \n\nBoiling Beef\nCreamy Amana Spinach\nBoiled Potatoes w/ Crumbs\nCooked Horseradish\n+2 Cold Sides + Dessert\n\n  \nTickets are available here! \n  \nPlease let us know when you buy tickets if you have any food allergies or need accessibility accommodations. The Communal Meals take place in our last remaining Communal Kitchen that was used before 1932 in the Communal Era and does have a few steps. Meals are served family style and there may be some allergies that we cannot accommodate.
